Eric Dane Leaves Emotional Final Message for Daughters Before Passing at 53.

American actor Eric Dane has died at the age of 53 following a battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), leaving behind his wife and two daughters, Billie and Georgia. Dane, widely recognized for his roles in Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, passed away on February 19 after publicly sharing his diagnosis in April 2025.

Over the past year, he had been open about his health struggles and used his platform to raise awareness about the degenerative disease, which affects hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.

Before his death, Dane recorded what has been described as a deeply emotional final conversation for his daughters. In the hour-long recording, he reflected on fatherhood, life lessons, and the importance of living fully despite hardship.

Addressing Billie and Georgia directly, Dane recalled cherished family memories, including beach days in Malibu, Santa Monica, Hawaii, and Mexico. He described those moments as ‘heaven.’ He encouraged his daughters to hold tightly to joy and presence.

In the pre-recorded video, he said: “Live in the present and avoid losing time to regret or anxiety.” He also said, “Fall in love with something meaningful, a passion or pursuit that gives purpose.” He also said, “Choose friends wisely and build relationships rooted in trust and loyalty.” He further shared, “Never stop fighting, even when circumstances feel overwhelming.”

Eric Dane was best known for portraying Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy and Cal Jacobs on Euphoria. In his final year, he became known for his openness about ALS and advocacy efforts to raise awareness.
