— Seun Kuti has been released on bail a court orders police to round off investigations in two days
— The Afrobeat singer’s defence counsel, Falana opposes the petition to detain him for 21 days
On Tuesday, the Chief Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos State, granted bail to Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti after twenty-four hours in detention.
The court also ordered police to complete their investigation into an alleged attack on a police officer within 48 hours.
S. A. Adebese, the police prosecutor, had asked the court to detain the defendant for 21 days(three weeks). The three weeks, according to the Counsel, would give the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to draught legal counsel.

However, in his argument, Seun’s defence lawyer Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), disagreed with the petition.
Falana pleaded with the court not to detain his client, saying he was unaware of any such application.
Seun Kuti was arrested on Monday 15th of May after he openly assaulted a uniformed police officer and was later paraded in the early hours of today. He has now been released on bail.
In continuing news, a witness who shared a video of himself on Instagram has stated that the musician, Seun Kuti was indeed wrong in the altercation between him and the police. He stated in the video that he is willing to help the police in their ongoing investigation of the case if invited.
The police have now asked him to come forward in a bit to shed more light on the unfortunate incident which happened on the Lagos State third mainland bridge.
