— Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti fled as policemen meant to arrest him in his Allen Avenue home earlier this morning met his absence.
— The Inspector General of police gave the order for his arrest after he assaulted a police officer.
Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti who had promised to cooperate with the police in their ongoing investigation was nowhere to be found when they visited him. The Officers stationed at his house as escorts and guards have been ordered to subsequently vacate the premises.
Seun is accused of assaulting a police officer and a viral video circulating the internet showed him man-handling a police officer and even giving at least two dirty slaps. According to Seun, the officer made an attempt on his life and that of his family.
The incident which happened on Saturday, 13th of May has made the Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Baba Alkali order an immediate arrest of Seun, the last born of the late legendary singer, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
Immediately after the video of his assault on the police officer who did not retaliate during the assault, he took to his Instagram to share what happened. He wrote:
“He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologised and I have agreed not to press charges. make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job”.

The officer who was assaulted reported to command headquarters and provided his account of the altercation with the singer.
