Young Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr has come under heavy criticism for the way and manner with which she greeted veteran singer, King Sunny Ade at a recent event.
The 21-year-old Mavin Records singer known popularly for her hit singles “Sability” and “Bloody Samaritan” stretched her hand to shake a couple of older men seated at an event one of whom was 77-year-old King Sunny Ade.
The event which was held at the Royal Box Event Center, Lagos was organized as a pre-Grammy event by Heineken Nigeria ahead of the forthcoming Grammy Awards next February. Ayra Starr could be seen going around to greet the dignitaries before making her way to the stage for her performance, escorted by Bose Ogulu, Burna Boy’s mum.
Fans and music critics have since reacted to the video saying she does not portray the good characteristics of a properly cultured Yoruba girl.
